Nebulas are among the most exquisite displays in space, and the Hubble Telescope has previously allowed us to see many of them. However, the James Webb Telescope is now ready to take centre stage.
NASA's Webb telescope has recorded a stellar nursery known as the Tarantula Nebula in sharp clarity, revealing previously unknown features that advance scientific knowledge.
The biggest and brightest star-forming zone in the Local Group, the Tarantula Nebula is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud galaxy and is only 161,000 light-years away. The region of space, which has long been a favourite of astronomers curious in star formation, is distinguished by its hazy filaments that imitate the legs of a hairy spider.
